girls weekend

this past weekend i celebrated my 29th birthday in style! on friday morning i waved a teary goodbye to my boys and jumped on a plane to calgary, ab. from there i was whisked away to the mountains by my dear friend amanda for a weekend of relaxation, great food, and amazing talks in canmore.

saying goodbye was a bit tough as i've only been away for cohen once before, but i know it's going to be awhile before i can take off like this again so i jumped on the chance while i had it.

it was so nice to just sit and read, during daytime hours. and to eat slowly and leisurely, without trying to feed someone else at the same time. and to walk through shops with feeling rushed, or chasing a little boy out of the glass display windows. and to drink coffee just because, not as a way to fix a rough day.

we were blessed to stay in this beautiful house for free because of some generous friends of amanda's.  it had a hot tub, fireplace and the most incredible views.

like this one...right out the living room window.

we also ate so much good food, i'm still full!  this was a chicken and apple pizza baked in a woodfire stove.  best. pizza. of. my. life.

because of the time change i was up pretty early both mornings, but i so enjoyed these quiet moments by the fire, reading the word and being blown away by some amazing sunrises.  my soul was restored.

during the day we explored banff and canmore, squinted, ate food and laughed a lot.

what an amazing time of rest, relaxation and soul restoration.  one of my favorite parts of the whole trip was using the drive back to calgary to pray and prophecy over one another in the car. what a time of blessing and encouragement that so easily could have been missed.  thanks amanda, you truly are a soul sister for life.
